A New Year, but Slow Progress




This is my first post since October due to flu and a new pup.  On January 1st, I made a list of projects still unfinished:

I've decided not to do the 2017 Quiltmania Mystery quilt this year.

It is the 24th February and progress has been slow.  I have two finishes.  Carol's friendship quilt is finished and has arrived in the US OK.  I tried out a faux piping binding this time. 


I finished my second version of the Hearts and Flowers Quilt.  I really enjoyed making the first version in Moda Fig Tree fabric scraps and wondered how the same quilt would look in reproduction fabrics.  Again I have a lot of scraps, so didn't need to buy any fabric.






I made the melon blocks a little larger, increased the width of the middle appliqued border and added an extra star to each side of the outer border.  This version ended up a little larger than the original. In addition, I added a narrow flange instead of the piped border in the original.



I have also made a start on the TQS 2017 BOM.

    It is good to take things slowly, I have opted out of a number of things this year. So I know how good it feels, to just be. Your Diamond Hill Block looks beautiful, the quilts you finished are great, thank you for sharing them with us. Hope you feel much better!

    LOL I just wrote a long message and was side tracked by your Rough blocks went looking to see more about them and deleted my message here LOL Your rough blocks are lovely. Gosh Sue Im tired from just reading all the piece quilting and sewing you are doing how can you fit in making a new pieced block every day for 365 days LOL Your TQS block is so incredible perfect those points ate to die for and so many tiny pieces in the centre!!!!! Every time I see the TQS bOM i think of Sue and her beauitful quilts she made for them. What a loss to the quilting world. Your Hearts and flowers quilts are lovely my goodness do you sleep LOL Hugs Glenda

      Thank you Glenda! I was an avid follower of Sue's blog and I have a couple of her patterns sitting waiting to be made. It is heartbreaking that she is no longer with us. I have discovered I prefer applique to piecing, but turned applique can take longer, and I have a 5 month old puppy who likes to chew, so productivity is way down! I have been following your progress on FB and adore your broderie perse in particular. xx
